A modular typeface is an alphabet constructed out of a limited number of shapes or modules. The following pieces are examples of my explorations into creating typography and illustrations out of a limited number of shapes. 
Yearbook Cover Design

•DESIGN GOAL: Create custom typography and illustrations out of a modular system

Experimental Typography
•CLIENT: Student Project at Cal State Long Beach (2011)
•SUMMARY: Experimental process that prints the phrase “HAVE NO FEAR.” Edition of 25. A student project collaboration with Eugene Takagi and Bryan Ku done at CSULB with Professor Andrew Byrom. A typeface was created from a preexisting pattern in tire treads. Letterforms were carved out such that the positive area left was used to create the words.
